Fred Phelps and the flock of the Westboro Baptist Church are planning to picket the funerals of the six people gunned down in Arizona on Saturday.

According to their website they thank God for the shooter and declare he was operating on behalf of God, acting as a rod for their sins.

Tomorrow (Thursday) they are planning on protesting at the funeral of the 9 year-old victim Cristina Taylor Greene, which has prompted an emergency legislative response by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer:

Both houses of the Arizona state Legislature voted unanimously Tuesday to create a “funeral protection zone,” preventing disruption from protesters at the funerals of those killed in Saturday’s shooting.

The bill bans protesters within 300 feet of a funeral service. The ban applies to one hour before, during or after a funeral service. Violations are classified as misdemeanor. The bill was classified as an emergency bill, requiring three-fourths of the Legislature. It takes effect immediately.

The move comes as the Kansas-based Westboro Church said it would protest the funerals of those killed in Saturday’s shooting.

Is anybody else sickened to their stomachs by the Westboro Church mob?

Can anyone even offer me a rational explanation of why they choose to operate in this fashion?

Or can anyone explain to me what they are trying to communicate or prove?

Sometimes I feel they’re simply out to discredit and bring shame on the Christian community.

Westboro church group says it will not now picket the funeral of the 9-year-old girl killed in Tucson in exchange for air time on two radio stations, the Topeka Capital-Journal reports, but will go ahead with pickets at the funeral of a federal judge killed in the attack.

First Principles
Describes the basic rational foundation to all knowledge that cannot be reduced by logical methodology but are presupposed in order to form any conclusion. These are often referred to as universal axioms because knowledge of them is universal and because of their assumed validity. Among the first principles of logic are the law of non-contradiction [...] continue reading
