What is the Monothelitism Controversy?

Comments Be First to Comment

Hi Michael:

What is your take on monothelitism? Could you please explain it. Thank you!

______________________________________________________

Well, it has to do with the two wills of Christ. It is a hard issue as we have to define what “will” is and what it is associated with. If you associate it with the person of Christ, then he only has one will. However, the early church associated will with the nature. Therefore, he had to have two. This is the orthodox position, but this is a minor issue, in my opinion. Christology, does not turn too much on this debate.

Hope that helps,

Street Preacher in Britain Arrested for Saying Homosexuality is a Sin

Comments 1 Comment

Dale Mcalpine was arrested and detained for nearly eight hours on the basis of the officers’ decision that the Bible’s teachings violated the law. Even though Mcalpine never mentioned homosexuality, an officer approached him and questioned him about his views. He said that he was not homophobic, but homosexuality was a sin. Interestingly, this was caught on camera. You can see how it went down here:

The team of officers who were involved are being charged $11,000 for their wrongful arrest.

It would seem that there is quite a bit of bickering and accusations going on about claims some have made to have found Noah’s Ark. Part of the accusations come from skeptical Christians who say that there are too many hoaxes out there that get Christian’s hopes up only to have them dashed when they find out that it was not the Ark.

Theological Word of the Day

Agnosticism
[ag-noss''-tih-siz''-um] (Greek a-, “no” + Greek gnosis “knowledge”) Properly speaking, agnosticism is the theological suspension of belief in God or a creator. An agnostic can be “hard” or “soft.” The “hard” agnostic does not believe that anyone can know whether or not there is a God. A “soft” agnostic is one who has not personally [...] continue reading
