I will simply make this one last appeal to you to join with us in our mission to stabilize people’s belief in Jesus Christ through providing solid theological resources.
Paul said, “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.” (Col 1:1 ESV). Notice how important teaching everyone with all wisdom is for maturity in Christ. Update #5: Two Million Minutes and a Thousand Pounds
As I look forward to 2013, I’m excited and concerned. First, the concern. I can’t believe it’s been almost 500 years since Martin Luther courageously nailed those 95 theses to the Wittenburg doors. In the 1500′s many things about the church needed to change. One example:
No one read the Bible for themselves. It wasn’t available. Luther, however, knew people would only live free lives if they continually fed themselves the rich nutrition of Scripture. He led a movement to bring the Bible back to the people. As we enter 2013 the church has once again lost the Bible. Oh yes, it’s available everywhere. Most people even have one on their phone. But it’s not in the hearts of God’s people. Most Christians today do not regularly read the Bible for themselves.
Here’s another concern… Over the last few decades thousands of churches have become very “attractional.” The youth programs feel like Disney world. The worship set rivals any rock venue. The cool atmosphere rivals any Starbucks. Yes, I go to a church that fits this description. I think there’s a place for attracting people. The light show during worship draws in many. But here’s the concern, then my excitement. I’m concerned if we give people a bright lightshow, they might not ever see the Light of the World. They’ll come for the attraction, stay for the attraction, and not live for Jesus.
Now my excitement, I think there’s a massive change happening today in the church. Words like doctrine, theology and church history are becoming very popular. People who grew up with all the “attractional” church stuff are yearning for more! They’re yearning for the fullness of their God. They don’t want spiritual junk food, they want the steak and potatoes. Michael and I teach a lot at the Credo House. We’ve had many sessions over the last 6 months that were totally packed out. People were furiously taking notes as we went deep into discipleship. What drew these people? The depths of their God and Savior! Sessions on Doctrine, Theology and Church History filled the Credo House. Who were these people? Most of the people in all our classes are in their teens and twenties! These people coming to the Credo House for theological depth have consumed more than 1,000 pounds of coffee in 2012!
We are also seeing this movement toward deep discipleship online. Our web analytics show us people have spent more than 2 million minutes in 2012 being discipled by the online portion of our ministry. Wow! When I think of Jesus’ last words to us, a lump rises in my throat. In Matthew 28 he tells us to go and make disciples, teaching believers to live for the Savior. What a worthy pursuit for us all.
Our passion is discipleship. Helping people live obedient lives for Jesus. Abiding in Him. Growing in Him. Learning more about Him.
Our God is huge and our vision is huge. We want to be on the front lines of this theological movement among the next generation. Would you help us? The need for discipleship is great. The excitement toward what God is doing is greater.

Update #4: Upcoming Apps in 2013
2012 was a great year for Credo House Apps. We are working very hard behind the scenes of our coffee shop to be a leader in discipleship-oriented apps. Our apps, like the rest of our ministry, is focused on making theology accessible. Watered down? No. Accessible? Yes!
In 2012 we were able to develop three apps for the iTunes App Store. The Theology app is currently in the pocket of over 2,000 people! Can you believe that? A seminary worth of theological training in the pockets of people around the world.
We were also excited in 2012 to be able to release the Discipleship and Church History apps. These apps take you deep without sacrificing accessibility.
In 2013, however, Credo House apps will go to a whole new level. First, all of our apps will be released and supported for Android devices! We’ve been writing a whole bunch of computer code to allow Theology, Discipleship and Church History apps to work beautifully on Android.
Second, we have many apps waiting in the wings ready to receive the finishing touches and disciple the Church. Here are some of the apps scheduled for release through our ministry in 2013: Bible Map, Archeology, Bible Study, Resurrection and Apologetics.
We believe each of our apps will make a big impact to deepen the Church to reach our world for Jesus.

Update #3: What You Will Be Giving To – Theology Program for Teens
From August to December 2012 I finally did it. I had a room filled with teens from thirteen to sixteen. I told these kids the story of Polycarp, the great Christian martyr, who defended his faith as he pointed to the stands and said, “Away with the atheists” just before they killed him. I walked them through Urban II’s inspiring speech in 1095, just before Christians began the first Crusade to hold off Muslim aggression. We dug deep into the implications of the hypostatic union as we struggle against sin. I taught theology to a group of enthusiastic teens.
Teaching kids theology. This is no easy task. What do they care? Why would they listen? Theology is not for teens? Is it? It is my assumption that when we take this attitude, we have already lost. Teens need theology. Teens want theology! I have the experience to prove it.

End-of-Year Campaign: Update #1 from our Executive Director
Thank you so much to those who have already given toward our end-of-year campaign! In this update I want to share two partnerships we can’t wait to launch in 2013…I think you’ll be excited. I unashamedly ask you to consider joining the movement we witness every day by financially partnering with Credo House.
First: Our Partnership with Compassion International in Kenya
Many of you are probably familiar with the ministry of Compassion International. In case you aren’t familiar with their excellent ministry, let me give you a quick overview. It’s a tradition in American churches to have Vacation Bible School for a week in the summer. Volunteers will spend many hours ministering to the kids of the community. Compassion is basically VBS to 1.3 million of the poorest children in the world. I love it! The VBS of Compassion, however, isn’t just once a year. It’s every Saturday in churches across the world and it never stops. They connect these children to sponsors in developed countries and do an amazing work releasing children from poverty in the name of Jesus.
I was able to go to Kenya a year ago on a blog tour and observe the ministry of Compassion. As I sat down over meals with the country leadership it was amazing to hear how they disciple 80,000 poverty-stricken kids in Kenya. A new program has recently been started where some of these kids are allowed to attend college. Can you believe it?! Children who were the poorest of the poor are now able to attain a university degree. There are currently about 350 university students in Kenya through Compassion.
As I sat down with the country leadership they, without even knowing what Credo House was all about, told me one of the greatest things these 350 college students are in need of is strong theological training. African governments are known for their corruption. Kenya is surrounded by some of the greatest wickedness of the past 50 years. The genocide of Rwanda, the Idi Amin era and tragic Lord’s Resistance Army of Uganda, the unspeakable horror of Darfur and the lawlessness of Somalia are all next door neighbors to Kenya. These 350 students will need to be strongly grounded theologically in order to go against the tide and lead East Africa into a better future.
Here’s where the Credo House comes into the picture. The Credo House has formed a partnership to provide the theological training for these university students! They will be going through The Theology Program. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am. It’s like having the opportunity to go back in a time machine and theologically train our founding fathers. The future impact this may bring is off the charts. Because of your financial partnership we will be able to take these students through all of The Theology Program AND we will be able to pick up the tab. They are excited to get started, please consider giving today to make this a reality and help us start reshaping East Africa for Christ.
Second: Making Theology Accessible to U.S. Soldiers
Several weeks ago Michael was able to theologically train a room full of military chaplains in Anchorage, Alaska. These chaplains were so excited with our curriculum. They felt like the unique way we make theology accessible was perfect for the United States military. You can imagine how much soldiers need theological grounding as they face evil so consistently.
You can also imagine, however, chaplains and soldiers don’t have a lot of extra income for theological resources. Part of this end-of-year fundraising campaign allows us to offer our curriculum to chaplains and soldiers for 50% Off throughout all of 2013!
I hope you are as excited at these two new partnerships as we are. We are humbled and grateful to be able to influence our country and the country of Kenya in such tangible ways for Christ.

Letter from our President
It is that time of year again. The time when many ministries call upon you and make their case for your year-end support. So many ministries, like ours, rely on this time of year to replenish their budget and plan for the future. There are so many good ministries out there. But, being the President of Credo House/Reclaiming the Mind Ministries, it is my job to make a case for this ministry being worthy of your support. Let me give you three reasons to give to Credo House Ministries:
1. I believe in our ministry.
This may sound silly. Of course, I am suppose to believe in our ministry. But you must understand, I am very timid about supporting something like this. Why? Because I am the one who started it. It scares me to death to ask for money for something I have such a founding stock in. But over the last six years, Credo House Ministries has grown so much. This does not mean that God is behind it. Lots of things grow in the flesh. However, I am very confident that the Lord is leading the way and it is HIS footprint being made through us. Please know that I kid you not when I say I truly believe in this ministry.
2. We are doing something different
It is easy to do the same thing. It is easy to follow in the footsteps of others. It is easy to throw rocks at the problems of Evangelical education, theological knowledge, and discipleship. It is hard to do something different. This ministry is different. We do everything we can to remain passionate and at the same time balanced in all that we do.
Last year we officially opened a theological coffee shop. A theological coffee shop! And you know what? It has worked. Hundreds of people enter in through the doors each week and saturate themselves in a world they never knew existed. This world does not merely replenish their caffeine, but it replenishes their faith. In everything we do, we are committed to thinking outside the box, creatively pioneering a way to make a difference in a world that so desperately needs to trust Christ.
3. We are not going to Stop
Many of you know that we are a young ministry. But it should be evident by now that we are not a “flash in the pan.” It all started on a Saturday morning where twelve singles met with me on the second floor of Stonebriar Community Church where I was pastoring. I did not know if anyone would show up. After all, I was teaching theological Prolegomena!! Today, we have thousands of churches using our curriculum and the Credo House is overflowing with eager students who want to learn why they believe what they believe. I am where God has chosen me to be and I, with God’s help, don’t plan on stopping.
These three reasons are nice and neat. However, they don’t amount to much without your partnership. We need your hands to hold us up through your financial gifts. If you believe in Credo House Ministries, please consider us for your year-end giving.
