Whatever Joe,

I give to organizations who help the really poor, i.e. the impoverished in Africa. You see, even the poorest people in America are RICH compared to that. I understand though that your liberal myopia prevents you from seeing such things. And just who in the heck made you the final arbiter of defining what "helping the poor" actually means anyway?

And you are very wrong, motives VERY much matter to God.

Also in typical liberal fashion, you twist scripture to suit your agenda. The Samaritan was an individual who ON HIS OWN ACCORD helped the stranger in need. Tell me, what good does it do anyone who is FORCED to "help their neighbor" via taxation? It is really no different than me holding a gun to your head and telling you to give your money to the poor. Do I give because my spirit compelled me to give, or do I give because the government will seize my assets or toss me in the slammer if I don't?

As far as the government in medical care question via Medicare/Medicaid, does it really matter if I oppose it? There isn't a politician in the world who would go anywhere near that. I have to pick my battles, and better to nip the socialized medicine abmonination in the bud than let it become another wasteful behemoth of an entitlement like Medicare is.

Martians who hate humans:

It almost doesn't really matter that much what O's motives are; whether Christian or not. Jesus said at times, even a Samaritan, a person not in the Judeo-Christian tradition, can be a better person than a priest ... just because of the good work that he does; helping a neighbor.

All the professing CHrisitans in the world, who don't really help the poor ... are less, said God, than a non-Christian who does help others.

And by the way: Medicare and Medicaid, are not presently covering tens of millions.

And if you don't like the government in medical care ... why aren't you also opposing these two programs? Or is your family on one of them? Or are you yourself looking to take advantage of one of them later in life?

Marvin the Martian,

My sentiments exactly, not because of party affiliation, since I'm an independent.

Just going by his actions so far.

Joe,

Please spare us the self righteous platitudes.

You can't possibly believe that Obama is pushing socialized medicine because that is what Jesus would want. Obama frankly doesn't give a hoot about what Jesus says about anything, otherwise he would have a vastly different position on abortion. He would also not have issued an executive order proclaiming June to be the National LBGT (Lesbian, Bi-sexual, blah blah blah) pride month. Obama only quotes Jesus (out of context no less) when it fits his leftist agenda. Obama is very much anti-Christ (that is with a small A), but he is NOT the one mentioned in Revelation.

BTW, the "poor" already have access to heath insurance, it's called Medicaid.

To try to tie the threads together:

Obama is not the anti-Christ ... because he is doing what Jesus told us to do: help the poor, and heal the sick. Especially the 40 million uninsured poor.

The middle-class debate on whether their own health program gets more expensive, ignores the poor; for whom any program at all would be an enormous improvement.

Can we remember the really poor? Heal the sick? Or will our religious right make that illegal?

Dan,
Good response to some silly ramblings passing for knowledge. Usually it is best to ignore such things but sometimes it is necessary to respond. I am a pastor and a lot of lay people get taken in by such drivel. If they have no training they can be fascinated by things like this because it seems scholarly and authentic and is presented in a confident manner. They are especially susceptible if they happen to agree with the conclusion. Like a previous post said, I fear that Barack Obama is AN anti-christ. However, the anti-christ par excellence, the real one, is yet to come.
