The Credo House of Theology is opening Monday, July 6th. It is a soft opening, which means that we are fully functional. We will have our grand opening soon. If you are in Oklahoma, please stop by for a “Calvin Cappuccino” (will have to show up to know what it is!) and for a tour.

Check out the schedule of events here: www.credohouse.org.

Also (very important): If you want to be on the Credo House, Edmond OK mailing list, you have to sign up here: www.credohouse.org. This will make sure you get updates on the events and happenings of the Credo House, Edmond. Hope to see you there. (Oh, and spread the word in whatever way you can!!)

What is the Credo House?

Credo – House of Theology is Reclaiming the Mind Ministries new headquarters in Edmond Oklahoma.

Think evangelical theological hub. Better, think of Francis Schaffer’s L’Abri Fellowship and you will catch some of the vision. The Credo House will be open to all.

Come join one of our classes or special seminars. Come use our theological library or look through our store. Just come hang out and have some coffee in the hub. We are here to make theology accessible, meaningful, and fun to the glory of Jesus Christ.

From the FAQ:

Who is the Credo House for?

Everyone who desires to learn and fellowship around a common theme—theology!

What is with the coffee bar?

We want to make the Credo House as inviting as possible. Not only can you come when a formal class is scheduled, but you can come hang out any time the doors are open. We will usually have the large TV playing a video of theological teaching in the background. Heck, there is also be a pool table!

Are there any costs?

The formal classes will usually have a charge. But this is only to ensure that you have a deeper level of commitment. Most of the seminars, live sessions, and special events will be free. Coffee is free!

Why didn’t you do this in a church?

We wanted some place that was more neutral. Some people are threatened by churches and anything affiliated with an institution. The Credo House can serve as a meeting ground for the church and the unchurched.

Are you affiliated or supported by any denomination?

No. We are Protestant Evangelical. Our statement of faith is the same as Reclaiming the Mind Ministries found here. We are best expressed through the dictum, “In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity.”

Is the Credo House a Church?

No. The Credo House is here to serve the church in theological education of lay-people and pastors. We support the local church of all denominations with evangelical convictions.

Can you start a Credo House in my city?

Maybe. Let’s let this take shape and form for a bit. It is very much a part of our vision to expand into cities all over the world, Lord willing. We will talk more soon about this.

Michael

Congratulations Michael! Praise God!!! I will try to visit one day, I would love to walk around in the building and check out the whole setup. I am very proud of you and the other folks who worked extremely hard to get this off the ground and running. Just awesome. Your sister would be VERY proud of you! If you can swing it, maybe form a Credo House location on Facebook, I could then direct all my friends to check it out :)

Again, congrats and God bless you in all your do :)

    Sincerely,

    Brian

Please adhere to the following rules to prevent banishment to Siberia (no offense to our Siberian visitors):

  • Do not use the blog to promote yourself, as your surrogate blog, or as an advertisement. I am sure you are interesting and have some really nice things to say, but you can get your own blog.
  • Do not call authors out for debate. You must count the cost (Lk. 14:31). You don’t want to get whipped up on anyway.
  • Keep your comments short. Like when your comments are longer than the blog, that is too long.

Theological Word of the Day

Roman Catholicism
A tradition in the Christian faith that distinguishes itself as the “one true church.” The primary distinctives of Roman Catholicism from other traditions of Christianity are 1) the bishop of Rome who claims apostolic succession, infallibility, and the authority of Peter the Apostle, 2) its claims to absolute and infallible authority in matters of faith [...] continue reading
