The story of King David recast in an alternate version of our modern world, written with a Shakespearean sensibility to prose and epic sweep. I often feel like I am watching a classic play with fancy production values instead of a network TV show. If you haven't watched it you should check out an episode or two (especially the pilot if you can). Be sure to give it some time to adjust yourself to a very different dramatic cadence. The series comes out on DVD at the end of September. I hope it can enjoy at least some redemption then in the same manner as Firefly which suffered a similar fate of being unusual and poorly handled by the network.
