Two DVD videos on the reliability of the New Testament manuscripts

Comments Be First to Comment

Friends, just a short note: Several have asked about getting a hold of my plenary lecture at the Evangelical Theological Society’s annual meeting; others have wanted to get my lecture given at apologetics conferences and in churches on whether our Bibles today essentially reflect the wording of the original text. Both of these are now available as a video DVD. The ordering information is available below.

“Is What We Have Now What They Wrote Then?”
A lecture at an apologetics conference in Providence, Rhode Island, 2008, about whether our printed New Testaments today accurately represent the original text.

“Challenges in New Testament Textual Criticism for the 21st Century”
A plenary lecture at the annual Evangelical Theological Society meeting in Providence, Rhode Island, 2008, on current issues in NT textual criticism.

The price of each video DVD is $10 plus $3 S&H. The price of both video DVDs together is $15 plus $3 S&H. Texas residents also will pay 8.25% sales tax. Allow two to four weeks for delivery.

If we’re in Dallas, is there a way to pick them up without paying shipping?

Peter, you could swing by my house up in Frisco, but I suspect that the gas and tolls would cost more than the nominal S&P charges.

    Dr. Wallace,
Any plans of making this available at the DTS bookstore?

Is What We Have Now What They Wrote Then?”

How would you, or anyone else, know the answer to that question? If there was a definitive “translation”, we would have all been enlightened and have no need for “expert theologians”

John C, how can you be totally skeptical without even looking at any of the evidence? Perhaps a look at the evidence would be helpful before such hubris is articulated. Further, a definitive translation presupposes two things: text and translation. Even if all of us were translating from exactly the same Greek text, that would not mean that the translations would be the same. For example, the vast majority of modern translations are renderings of the standard critical Greek New Testament (with less than 1% variation), but the NIV, RSV, ESV, NASB, NRSV, NET, TNIV, NEB, REB, etc. are all different. Expert theologians will still be needed, I’m afraid, as will exegetes, and pastors.

The John C. above is not the John C. that has been posting on other threads.

We spoke, and I heard your lecture at ETS. Thanks for making this material available on DVD. I have already placed my order and included a post about it on my Travel Blog: http://ferrelljenkins.wordpress.com.

Hmmm…maybe I could convince my wife that we need to go to Ikea (shouldn’t be hard – lol). Then I could get the DVD’s while I’m up there in Frisco. Although the DTS bookstore would be simpler. So I’ve got to add my plea to Abraham’s. Any chance of them becoming available there?

Thanks, folks, for your interest in the DVDs! I’ve contacted the DTS bookstore to see if they can sell them there and bypass the S&H costs. I hope so. They should be ready in about a week or two, just in time for Christmas.

Ferrell, thanks for blogging about the DVDs! I’ve asked Michael Patton to make the correction to comment #10; I have zero editorial authority.

    Dan,

Will you ship them to Canada? I have heard the first lecture and it is good. The difficulty is that you are not shipping to Canada from the form.

    Rick

Yes, we will ship to Canada. If you can’t order it through PayPal, you could send us a check (in US dollars) and we’ll get the DVDs to you. No extra cost for shipping to Canada.

Frisco! I used to play hockey in Frisco… now we live in west Texas. Maybe if we come back to town soon I can pick the DVD’s up (I hope).

Ben, even with the dropping of gas prices in the last few months, my guess is that it will still cost you more than $3 to come all the way to Frisco from West Texas to save on the S&H charges! Add to the fact that we’re off the Tollway, and the price gets higher and higher pretty quickly.

Arianism
