As a Christian and Iraq veteran who proudly voted for Barack Obama, I can say that I have less fear for my nation now than when President George W. Bush was elected 8 years ago, and I have far, far, less than when he was reelected 4 years ago. I’m glad to see that even though we obviously disagree on a great many issues, we can both agree that God is Sovereign.

I would also like to especially commend your guest(I’m forgetting his name, sorry), who spoke about the justice of God and the sin of the United States that may have led of the election of a Black president. Although I don’t believe that President-Elect Obama was elected on this basis, I do believe that his presidency has the potential to finally atone for some of our nation’s racially-motivated sins. The symbolism alone is a powerful healing factor for people who cannot ignore the gross evils that this country allowed to continue for far too long. I just remember what Thomas Jefferson said on slavery in 1785, “If God is just, I tremble for my country: that His justice cannot sleep forever.” We have paid a high price for these sins, but if this is an aspect of God’s justice then I believe we need tremble no longer.

As a Southern Californian, thanks for giving so much clarity to the recent election results. My wife Ella has many relatives in the San Francisco Bay area. The UC Berkeley mentality rules the day for these folk. Clearly Obama is not the “evangelical” choice. We appreciate your remarks.

Rejoice with us here about the good news: Proposition 8–one man/one woman marriage–did win! Pray with us that the courts–California State Supreme Court and/or US Supreme Court–will not strike down this new gain.
