Being born into Christianity is described as a top reason not to become a Christian. Of course the orthodox position is that you are if possible baptised as an infant, and thus are a Christian. So the vast majority of the Christians in the world believe they became so for your “wrong reasons”.

Actually it is not the top reason not to be a Christian, it is just one of the reasons.

The question is subjective.
A reason is that not being a Christian, you don’t have to seek.

Does that mean that if you grow up in a Christian home, you should question your Christianity more? That worries me because I grew up believing in Jesus for my salvation, it was just part of the reality that I was presented and didn’t really question it that much, but I still believed it. So am I not a Christian because I didn’t have to seek for it, even though I believed anyway?

Nevermind, I think I misunderstood what was being discussed; a long week mixed with being almost completely out of my mind most of the time will do that.

Pyre,
My take on being a Christian because you were “born” into it is this….
haha – I hope things have gotten better for you!
Most of us believe that belief in God is important, right? So, obviously, we want to make sure we are believing in the “right’ God. To do this, we cannot just believe what we have been “told,” but rather, we have to do a little research and study to see if what we have been told to believe makes sense to us. We need to know “why” we believe what we do. With something as important as our belief in God, we can’t just take man’s word for it! We must seek God and His word…. we must seek the truth.
My journey was one in which I knew that I knew the God of the Old Testament was real… there was too much proof, especially with all the fulfilled prophecies of the Old Testament. My conundrum was whether or not Jesus was really the Messiah spoken of in the OT. After all, many Jews believed he wasn’t, and surely they had a good reason, right? ….so, being that my belief in God is very important to me, I felt it vitally important to make sure I had put my belief in the true Messiah that God had spoken of! That required a lot of research, but at least, in the end, I was able to know and understand my beliefs… and most importantly, to truly have faith in those beliefs. Hope this helps.
