Well I have no problem with treasure in Heaven. I see Grace as “unmerited favor and love of God towards man” as my one Bible edition defines it. That is favor that we did nothing to deserve, that gift of salvation given to us by God at the cross by faith in Jesus Christ, a plan realized before the foundation of the world (Eph 1.).

Grace also enables us to live victorious Christians lives so in sanctification we cannot bragged we did it “our way”. Grace drops pride.

God resists the proud but giveth grace to the humble.”

Treasure in Heaven is a Christian’s responses to God’s goodness towards him by wanting to live a life that is sacrificial and pleasing to God. (Romans 12:1, ‘by the mercies of the living God” the Apostle wrote)

(This is one thing I missed in your previous article and when skimming Chuck Colsons’s book is the reference to obediance as a product of Grace, if it is in there I apologize! But obediance is important as well. (Phil. 2:12) How awesome it is to serve the living God! What fulfillment and happiness it brings.

You ask what MY theology of “rewards” may be?
I prefer to plagiarize “my” theology direct from the bible:
1. First of all: “salvation” does NOT equal “rewards”. (my words.. proof to follow)
2. 2Timothy 1:9 tells us (go read it, I’ll wait….) that we were saved BEFORE the world began. Which human has any “works” to show before the world began? Not me. This one verse also identified WHO did the saving: God. Why?: NOT “according” to OUR works BUT “according” (same GK words, thus a complete comparison of opposites) for His OWN purpose AND GRACE. How was it delivered? “in Christ Jesus”, which verse 10 specifies IS NOW manifest. That ONE verse 2Timothy 1:9 pretty much answers ANY questions about “salvation” and “works”. Timothy also wrote in 3:16 that ALL scripture is “God breathed” (not just “inspired”. look up G2315: “theopneustos”) so we have a choice to make. We can either believe the roman church OR Timothy. One of them is lying. You choose.
3. back to “rewards”: Now that we see “salvation” for us happened BEFORE creation of this “world”, before “we” had ANY works, and it WAS (past tense) a gift FROM God, via Christ, and has already been delivered/manifested, we can see that Revelation 22:12 tells us not only WHEN these “rewards” (reward=payment.. look it up.. G3408) are given to us (Christ brings them WHEN He “comes quickly” vs. salvation which is pre-world) but also to what extent we are given them: “according as his WORK shall be”. These “rewards” are earned. EVERY person gets rewards, some good rewards and some not so good. You already looked up G3408 so you know all rewards are not necessarily good ones. Ephesians 2:10 tells us WHY we are to DO good WORKS: because we are HIS creation and good WORKS is why He created us! So let’s all get out there and DO something GOOD for Christ BEFORE He brings our rewards, which could be any second. Grace, being a gift, albeit undeserved by us, is nonetheless a gift. Let’s be grateful. Don’t forget for a second that God could have just as easily wiped out the Garden of Eden AND Adam AND Eve and none of us would exist, so let’s all be thankful He chose to do it the way He did instead.
