Blog of the week: Tom in the Box. This is theological satire at its best. How does this guy come up with all this stuff?
Interesting Article: There is an interesting article by Matt Jenson on Scriptorium Daily called (How) Do Women Sin?
Where proud men need to be humbled, to be broken on the rock of Christ, to be crucified with Christ, women who have lost themselves need to be healed, to be encouraged to speak again, to be urged to live the lives God has called them to in Christ. The danger of applying the remedy of humility to slothful women is that it will actually underwrite their own sinning.

Zach is starting to sit up.
Mom is still very bad. Dad is too.
Kristie and I have not been out on a date alone in 8 months. Too many kids. We need to.
Kylee got a 100 on her spelling test today!! She has not been that good of a speller in the past.
Katelynn witness to a friend at school. She accepted Christ. We went and got her a Bible. She is really excited and reads it everyday!!!
Will and I are best friends . . . I hope it stays that way.

Michael, if you are going to dive into Calvinism, please keep this in mind: when I am around Calvinists I become more Arminian, and when I am around Arminians, especially of the modern variety, I tend to become a pseudo-Calvinist. I am perverse that way.
Glad to hear the kids are doing great, sorry to hear the parents are not.
Now, call Rhome over to babysit tomorrow night and go see 3:10 to Yuma with your wife. Maybe have some some dessert and coffee afterwards.

Who knows what I will do. I tend to begin to write on subjects that are on my mind. Since we have been discussing Calvinism, it is on my mind, so I thought that I would write more! I probably won’t. We will see.
Thanks for the encouragement, but Rhome would not know what to do with the kids. He would strap them all in his convertible and head downtown or something.

Michael, seriously, what good is a church community if not to provide a great pool of babysitters?! Don’t you go to one of those mega-churches with a “babysitting” ministry, headed up by the Junior Vice President for Young Couples in association with the Youth Department’s “Teen Vocation” program?

Michael, that was an interesting article about the way women differ from men in their sinning. The only thing I took issue with was the author stated that women have the moral choice to leave their abuser. It’s not that simple. The process of leaving or the leaving itself is when the woman is at the HIGHEST risk of not only getting hurt by her abuser, but killed. I know there are agencies that help women to leave successfully, but there are countless stories of that still not working to keep the women safe, sadly enough.

This might be a double post. Don’t know what happened to the first one but I will try again.
Regarding the How do Women Sin article, I would disagree with the author that self-denigrating women don’t need humility. Because it does require humility to confront yourself and honestly say “I am self-denigrating, I do not see myself as worthyâ€. But when you bring that to the foot of cross, and find healing and value in who you are in Christ, that’s where the voice is found.

Michael,
I would be interested in the posts on Calvinism. I’ve listened to all the TTP classes, done the readings, thought about the questions, read your blog (and other’s) and still don’t know where I am on the Calvinism/Arminianism scale. Like Vance, I tend to go opposite to what I’m around. I have disagreements with items in both systems. Anything you can do to shed light on the issue would be appreciated.
