Getting to know each other
Since we have so many people who not only frequent this blog, but also post, I thought it would be good for us to take an opportunity to get familiar with each other. I know that these tests are not always accurate, but I did find this particular one helpful. It seems to ask the right questions. Anyway, here is my profile. Click on this link, take the test, get the code and then post yours in a response below so that we can see yours! It is really easy.
Notice, I am an “Originator, Intellectual.” Oh yeah. I am telling my wife.

Help! I came out high on thinking but obviously I’m not too good at it. I wanted to post my results as you did but I can’t figure out how to do it. But the skinny is I am an Engineer/intellectual, highest bar on the left side was “thinking” and highest bar on the right side was “perceiving”. Lowest was “feelings”…yikes!
C Michael Patton on 22 Sep 2007 at 1:59 pm #
Nick, you are “Protector” as well! Didn’t you find the code to post this as a picture?
Lisa R on 22 Sep 2007 at 2:15 pm #
I’ll have to follow Nick’s lead for now and post the link
http://lrobinson.mypersonality.info.
Nick N. on 22 Sep 2007 at 2:27 pm #
Michael,
Didn’t know there was code to post it as a pic, but now that you mentioned it I found it. If this works then feel free to delete my first comment and just post this… If this doesn’t work then I am hopelessly lost
1 minutes later…
Didn’t work!!! I’m guessing that you can’t post that particular html code in the comments section.
Oh, and thanks for pointing out that I’m a ‘protector’ as well
7 minutes later…
This edit feature rocks!
By the way… Did you notice the Famous ISTJs? Bruce Wayne and Darth Vader — It doesn’t get better than that!!!
May the force be with you…

Hi Michael,
You may want to change your spelling of opportunity as “oppertunity”
Otherwise, your personality profile may not be justified in saying you’re “perceptive,” “thinking,” and an “intellectual.” But, given that spelling, it sure does seem that you are an “originator” lol jk
Tony
p.s. Make sure to tell your wife about that spelling.

Sorry for the multiple posts but I’m apparently having some difficulty. Gosh, I couldn’t even get the link right but here it is. I’m an INTP…like Einstein! Although I suspect Einstein wouldn’t have had so much trouble posting a simple test result.

I don’t mind being a Darth Vadar type but I’m somewhat offended by the Fred Mertz comparison……I would have preferred Ricky Ricardo.

Nick N. on 22 Sep 2007 at 6:25 pm #
Michael,
ISTJ is my personality type. Yours is ENTP. If you click on the full (insert your personality type here) profile then you’ll see a list of famous people with your personality type. Bruce Wayne and Darth Vader were on my list. So was Joe Friday from Dragnet and George Washington, et. al.
You got Kramer from Seinfeld, Bugs Bunny, and George Carlin (God help you!) among others…

Because of their deep sense of duty they are dedicated to everything they do and are very dependable. ISTJs care deeply for those closest to them.”
Lisa R on 22 Sep 2007 at 8:34 pm #
Vance, I think Michael would disagree. And if you’re ever tempted to go down the ennui trail, just shake things up a bit with a little OE/YE convo. Oh and then there’s the whole C vs. A thing…but we won’t go there.

Yeah, I am right on the cusp of “P” and “T”, a little more intuition and Michael and I would have the same profile.

Still ISFJ, after many years of taking the Myers-Briggs and shorter tests like this one. Here is my html code, but I’m not sure it is going to display:
It was not easy to locate that html code. Hmm, it’s not displaying, so I’ll just include a link to my profile:

Bruce Wayne could be better than Bugs Bunny (and in fact is!)

Okay, Michael, here you go….. And thanks for sharing this site. Do you know how much we pay in HR to do these kinds of tests?! And btw, you can definitely tell by mine that I belong in HR!! And also you and I are too much alike. Except for your intuitive nature and my “sensing” nature, we are side by side.

http://joaniemaine.mypersonality.info/
I am an INFJ (Confidant/Visionary), which it says only 1% of the population is.
http://www.mypersonality.info/personality-types/infj/
That page describes my type and some of what it says is:
“INFJs are gentle, caring, complex and highly intuitive individuals. Artistic and creative, they live in a world of hidden meanings and possibilities. Only one percent of the population has an INFJ Personality Type, making it the most rare of all the types.”
“”…desire to contribute to the welfare of others and genuinely enjoy helping their companions. Although Counsleors tend to be private, sensitive people, and are not generally visible leaders, they nevertheless work quite intensely with those close to them, quietly exerting their influence behind the scenes…”
I have trouble taking these tests, because I am one way in some situations and the other way in other situations and it “bugs” me to have to pick one! Must have something to do with my personality type, huh.
Hey, I see Cheryl figured out how to show her chart. Let me see if I can do that too:

I’m consistently INFP on these things:
Apparently that makes me a “Dreamer” - http://www.mypersonality.info/personality-types/infp/
Among other people, that makes me like Calvin (of cartoon fame), Wesley Crusher, Tommy Pickles (Rugrats), Apostle John and E.T. Curious about how they came up with some of those, but never mind.

I suppose “getting to know each other” is a great place for my second post. I took these tests a few months ago, but just now took the time to figure out the badging. Good to see some other INTJs around!
Michael, I first found your blog in a roundabout way. Later I was surprised in one of your personal notes that you lived in Frisco. Then I searched and found your bio. If I got on the roof of my house, I could see Stonebriar Church. It’s a small world.
Edit to try badging again, at the end. I’m also directly at http://gvaughn.mypersonality.info

Gee, I still remain the only INFJ (Confidant/Visionary) posting here so far. I guess that makes me an “odd ball” huh? If it’s true that only 1 out of 100 people is an INFJ, I guess it makes sense that not many are posting here.
(Hey, I saw where someone above said they put the code as the very last thing on their post and it worked. So I put my name above the code and I see it worked this time. Yay! But I do see other folks were able to put it in the middle of their comments. Oh well, it worked.)
I posted more about my “type” up in post #37. I think in the past when I did the Myers-Briggs test, I was an INFP or an INTP.

Michael, this is Kelly posting under Paul’s account. I have had a long term interest in the Myers-Briggs typing. It’s bad….I go around ‘typing’ everyone I interact with! I guess I’m not good at it, though. I had you solidly pegged for an ENFP, an idealist rather than a rational. Wow! As an INTJ, I do not like to be wrong on these things!
For a really interesting read with lots of information Please Understand Me II is a great book on this typing.
C Michael Patton on 06 Oct 2007 at 9:51 pm #
Oh…I am an idealist at hear!

If so, my first post here (Hello).
I’m an INTP and tested out almost exactly the same as Michael, except I was about 68% Introverted (whenhe’s on the E-side of things, that way).
Famous INTP’s:
Pascal, Darwin, Descartes, Aristotle….
Frank Zappa…Bob Newhart, lol
Okay, I’ll stick with Pascal this go-round.
