<description>Bill, I agree completely. What a great thing this post is for two reasons:

1. Helps us to understand the importance of text criticism. Every Christian should know about this important apologetic topic.
2. The humility, scholarship, and integrity that Dan displayed in the tone of this post. It shows that evangelicals are very concerned with scholarship and accuracy.

		<description>Dan,

I'm new here and just taking The Theology Program but your post shows just how important it is to have the proper theology to understand many issues including textural criticism.

In today's postmodern environment believers are inundated with articles, programs, broadcasts, etc., that are designed to "chip away" at one's faith and articles like this one can certainly have that effect without proper theology. Most cannot read Greek nor are they knowledgeable about the various manuscripts and their respective dates. Therefore the tendency, without proper theology, is to read and believe the current scholar's position in print.

Thank God for The Theology Program and the beginning of creating a proper theology for myself and my critical thinking in matters eternal.
