Screwtape Letters Movie!!

Well, it is about time. I don’t have any idea how this escaped my notice but it looks like Walden Media, the force behind the movie Chronicles of Narnia, has decided to move forward with a the Screwtape movie project. This movie should be done really well. Douglas Gresham, C.S. Lewis’ faithful stepson has been heading up the project. I actually had the opportunity to talk to him about this when he was in town a couple of years ago. I have eagerly be anticipating its arrival. I would be in prayer about this movie as it has the potential to make a very unique impact and have a very large appeal in our culture. Once again, the legacy of C.S. Lewis lives on, moving beyond whatever his hope or dreams could have ever imagined. Thank you Lewis.
Maybe we can twist Ed Komozewski’s are to getting Douglas Gresham on the Converse with Scholars program in the near future to talk about this and the ongoing Chronicles of Narnia project.

Excellent news. I will re-read my copy of the Letters this week.
Legacy indeed…and what an incredible mind. I stumbled on the second installment (“Voyage to Venus”) of Lewis’ sci-fi trilogy a few years ago and only recently read it. While I’m not normally a fan of the genre (though LOTR and the Narnia chronicles did keep me up long past my bedtime on several occasions!), I was captivated by the lush descriptions and allusion to reality seen and unseen. I’ve since tracked down the remaining two books and am finishing the last. May I recommend these as supplemental reading to challenge readers via CSL’s mastery of language and imagery to convey deeper truths?

Once again the movie producers have realized that scripts based off of well though-out plotlines and stories are much better than those submitted by screenwriters looking to meet their yearly quota. I am overjoyed that our friend Jack is recieving his due accolades and those who have not experienced his witness (or are prone to going to the cinema instead of picking up a book) can finally see his mastery.
Perhaps Hollywood will even delve into the best book of all? Perhaps it’s only a dream…and they probably wouldn’t do it justice.
I have read the Screwtape Letters, the Space Trilogy, Narnia, and several of Lewis’ essays and they nevel fail to increase my interest in Scripture. I would recommend his work to anyone seeking a jumpstart in Theological studies or someone having trouble jsut picking up the Bible.
